You’re listening to the women rocking real estate podcast, I’m your host Jen Percival and I am so excited to be back on the air for season 2 of the show!

It has been awhile since I’ve recorded an episode, just over 3 months in fact. There’s obviously been a lot going on in the world and I decided I needed to take a real break and just spend the summer with my family. We lived up at our cottage and spent most of it on our new boat exploring all the beauty of Georgian Bay. It’s been amazing and although I am depressed that summer is over, I’m also feeling really inspired and motivated to get back to work.

Back in episode 15, I talked about the keys to an effective real estate career and really it was more about taking leaps of faith and pursuing your calling. For many of you that leap was to become a real estate agent. Well for me, the leap was to actually pivot my Release Date: Sept 7th Due Date For Review: Sept 4th Episode #: 30 Episode Season: 2 Episode Title: We’re Back to Season 2! Episode Description: Jennifer is back on the air for Season 2! Tune in to today’s quick episode to get details on the upcoming season and some exciting new opportunities she has in store for listeners. Lead Magnet / Opt-in ? Well I learned pretty quickly that it’s really hard to do both. Not only was I actively selling real estate, but I was also running a boutique real estate brokerage and a not for profit company and if you remember I’ve got four kids. Which meant I was also a full-time teacher. Needless to say, I just couldn’t manage it all. Which was a really hard thing to accept. I’ve always viewed myself as the girl who can take on anything and I realized pretty quickly that for the first time in my life, I was in over my head.

Well back in that episode, I included an exercise about how to focus on doing things that are in your zone of genius. Again it was episode 15 if you want to download it from my website. Well I went through the exercise myself and did a huge brainstorm of all the activities I was working on across all my businesses and Oh my god, it was insane. Like pure insanity. One of the positive things that has come out from Covid for me, is that it has really given me perspective on what matters in life and how I want to spend my time.

So I took that massive list and I divided them up into the 4 quadrants and then I made a massive decision to scrap everything that wasn’t in my zone of genius quadrant. When I say massive decision, I’m not exaggerating. This is big. I decided to shut down my brokerage and I closed up my venue rental business. I ran my brokerage for 5 years and it was a great learning experience, but when I was honest with myself, I really didn’t enjoy it. There was so much administration and a ridiculous amount of liability and it just didn’t light me up at all. So I am currently in the process of winding that business down and am super excited about where I’m going next. When I started looking at my options for brokerages, it was underwhelming. I’d already been at 2 of the big name brokerages so I knew what they were all about and wasn’t interested and I’d already owned my own boutique brokerage, so going to another one didn’t feel like the right fit either. Well as the universe likes to work, right when I was in the middle of trying to figure out where to go, a woman named Donna reached out to me on Instagram of all places and asked if I knew anything about the real estate brokerage EXP. I had heard of them as a number of my students and coaching clients were there, but they are newer to Canada so I wasn’t intimately familiar with their model. Well 5 minutes into my conversation with Donna and I was all in. It was so refreshing to finally hear about an innovative brokerage model that was completely different than the same same old school brokerages that permeate the real estate industry.

So ladies I am packing up my bags and heading over to EXP in the next few weeks. Being at EXP will give me the opportunity to build a team of realtors all over the world who I can mentor and provide exclusive coaching & training opportunities. If you’re interested in learning more about them and what they have to offer and the team that I’ll be building, send me a message. I’d be happy to give your more details.

Ok so that’s my big news. My podcast is also back for season 2 and I want it to be better than ever for all of you loyal listeners, so help me help you. I sent out an email to my audience asking for feedback about what you want to learn more about and I got some great feedback. Loads of you said episodes about negotiating, influencing, establishing authority, building confidence, creating content, work life balance and preventing burnout, habits and routines, automating your business and being more productive, how to deal with competition, goal setting and the challenges of working on a team – which was a big one. If you’ve got ideas, I still want to hear about them. I also really want to hear about guests that you’d like to hear from. One of my mandates for Season 2 is to include more guests from women of colour that have businesses that Realtors could use. So if you know any awesome ladies that would be a good fit for the show, make sure you send them to me! You can find a link to the survey in the show notes for this episode. Just go to womenrockingrealestate.com/30. One of the other things that also came out of the survey, was that there are a lot of listeners that are newer agents or even those thinking about getting into the business or are currently getting their licences. And you ladies have unique needs. I heard over and over that many of you are feeling sort of lost and don’t really know what you should be doing first and how to prioritize where you focus. I talk about this a lot with my one on one coaching clients in my Attract program – I call it SOS shiny object syndrome, There’s so many things you could be doing and just as you get started on one, you get distracted by another opportunity and so you shift your focus and then something else comes up and before you know it you’re kind of going in circles and not making any real progress on anything. Sound familiar? Well to help you with this, I’ve created a Getting Started in Real Estate Roadmap. This step by step guide will walk you through the 12 things you need to focus on and in what order. To accompany this, I’m also considering starting a membership group for new agents to hold your hand through each of the 12 steps. It will include a monthly group coaching call with me where you can ask all your questions and get feedback from me on your business. If you’re interested in learning more, you can sign up to be notified when registration opens by visiting the show notes for this episode at jenpercival.com/30. You can also grab a copy of the free step-by-step roadmap there.

Alright that’s it for today ladies! I just wanted to hop on here quickly to say I’m baaaack and so excited to be here. I’d love to hear from you about what you want to learn more about in season 2 so take a minute to fill out the survey so that you can help me, help you. Until next time and remember, as always the more you learn, the more you’ll earn.

    See you next week!
